5th International Limnogeology Congress session

As the deadline for abstract submission (April 15th) for the 5th International Limnogeology Congress in Konstanz, Germany (August 31st – September 3rd, 2011; http://www.iug.tu-bs.de/limnokongress/index.html) is approaching quickly, we would like to draw your attention to the session on “Karstic lakes: Depositional models for high resolution archives”. Karstic lakes may provide some of the highest resolution archives of past global changes in carbonate terrains but we still do not have comprehensive facies and depositional models covering the whole spectrum of lakes. In this session we would like to explore the factors controlling carbonate and primary productivity and water mixing properties and their relationship with the formation of laminated sediments. We also would like to discuss high resolution reconstruction based on sedimentary sequences from these lakes in the contest of detailed facies analyses from modern and ancient lake systems.
